The CSI board members have been busy working on new opportunities for everyone and have realized we want more input from you. The ISC will be having their conference here in Chicago the first week of October 2012 and we have aggressive plans to put sculpture all over the city, but we need your help! 

Everyone will have a voice and be able to share their ideas with everyone else. We strongly encourage you to attend and invite any of your art buddies (sculptors and art administrators etc) to attend and contribute to this meeting. The topic is the Art of the Possible: What can CSI do together? We will focus on: ISC conference exhibitions, fundraising, new opportunities and new membership. There will also be announcements about new leadership for CSI. It will be a great meeting!

         Using materials commonly associated with traditional fiber and
textile work, Donna Hapac constructs sculptural forms that seem to
connect to a range of sources while rejecting any real affiliation. 
Her background in painting and drawing clearly contributes to the
layered complexity of her sculptures.  Donna has exhibited her work
throughout the Midwest for over twenty-five years.

In addition to being practicing sculptors Sal, Eric, and Jason own and operate Drake runner LLC providing sculpture production services in diverse materials. Lloyd is the owner and Director of Chicago Crucible LLC offering casting services in bronze, aluminum, and iron.

• What: Sculpture that fits into a 6″x6″x6″ cube. Sculpture can be free standing  or can hang on the wall.

• How: There is an entry fee of $15.00 for 1-2 pieces. Your entry will include   postcards for your mailing lists and help cover the cost of the installation and reception (if your two pieces sell there is not an additional entry fee).
• Please make checks out to CSI and bring them to Framing Mode with your sculpture by September 17th. We will have the postcards to give you at that time.

2) Tuesday-Saturday, September 13-17th from 11am-5pm: Sculpture drop off
at Framing Mode, no late entries will be accepted. All work must be hand delivered
to Framing Mode. We will not ship your work back so you must have a friend or
colleague responsible for dropping off and picking up your work if you can’t.

3) Sunday and Monday September 25-26th: Hang show, prepare walls and hang shelves   
4) Tuesday-Thurs Sept 27th-29th: Curate the pieces

5)Friday October 14, 6-10pm: Artist Reception featuring vegan refreshments

Form in Flora II is a sculpture show open to all International Sculpture Center members within 100 miles of Chicago.  All work must be related to Nature in some way. Sculptures will be placed within the plant collection in the show-house and on the immediate grounds of the Lincoln Park Conservatory.  Time based, conceptual and environmental works are welcome, but no digging is allowed. The work may be individual sculptures or groupings. This is not a decorative art show of “garden art”.

Sculptures will be placed within the plant collection.
Large scale work can be proposed to go outside the entrance of the conservatory and throughout the campus per approval of the Park District. Indoor work will be in the show-house.
Each artist or artist’s representative must install and de-install their own work.
No additional lighting or electricity is likely.
All work must be durable enough to survive public interaction and be at least 24 inches in size.
All work must be able to withstand some contact with water; this includes indoor work.
Security personnel is primarily for safety, not for art work.
Hanging sculptures are welcome, but must be light weight.
Small pools of water are available to interact with your work indoors.
The show will be insured. No sales. Interest in work will be directed to the artist.
Some pedestals are available, but artists may be asked to fabricate their own.

3 pieces, no more than 2 images of each.
A brief statement about how the work relates to Nature. This statement may be used in promotional material.

Value of work for insurance purposes.
If sending a proposal with sketch and description, send previous examples of work, clearly marked as such.

No fee, no stipend. We cannot receive shipped work. Work must be picked up after the show. No storage is available.
